Venn Diagrams

Venn diagrams are a good way for people to compare and contrast different things on a visual basis. they can see the differences between two things. We'll create an example. We will call one A and the other B. Lets say A represents what you like. And Bis what your best Friend likes. You both will have some differences and some similarities. The similarities will be called C.
Using circles draw two that slightly overlap. The overlap will represent Section C. the Others will be A and B. Section C is also called the intersection. Here is an link to show you what i am talking about.

Here is a video i found on You tube where children at an elementary school create a human Venn diagram.

This video gives more information on different types of diagrams Like conditional probability.

  1. I watched the video on You Tube and think that is a really neat and fun activity to do with Elementary students. I think it would really help them understand what a venn diagram is. Activities such as these would help students find the drive to want to learn.

  2. I also watched the video, and I think it is a very good idea. Having the students actually sit and be part of the venn diagram, makes them physically understand the problem. This is also a good idea because different students learn differently. And physically doing a problem is one way.

  4. I loved this one. It was fun to watch the students become a human venn diagram. Also, the idea of moving themselves into position would heelp understand and remember how it works.

  5. Bummer - the Venn Diagram with children was removed from YouTube - my guess is that there was a song-usage violation there.
